Same Dance, Different Tune: Racial Hypocrisy and low self-esteem at Matric Dance(s).

Lately in the social media streets ,we have been subjected to a peculiar form of gaslighting where our financial choices(as Black people) are scrutinized under a microscope while our white counterparts are given a free pass. It's a case of "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" for some but for Black people, it's "when in Rome, you're doing it wrong." This mentality is often perpetuated by Bantu philosophers and self-hating Black individuals who seem to have internalized the notion that “Black excellence” is equivalent to assimilation hence the high racial low self esteem that is on display.

This trend of policing how black people spend their money as opposed to white people, to me, is rooted in white idolisation, self hate and envy. You have absolutely no idea what the financial capacity of these parents is, how long they have been planning and how they budgeted. If they are not bothered, why are you?

Also, I don’t think they know enough white people to conclusively determine that their financial habits are better than ours.

So this is how these convos usually go if you are someone who pays attention:

Me: *goes on YouTube and finds a couple of episodes featuring them whites*

Them: no, those are not real white people. Also, they were on drugs so it doesn’t count.

Me: So you’d readily place a black under the guillotine for wasting his money on alcohol. But can pardon a yt who wasted his entire inheritance on coca cola?

It is absolutely nauseating, “you will never see abelungu …” lapho they’ve never set foot inside indlu yomlungu, the only white people you know are the ones you saw on SABC 3. Now tell me how do you advocate on a whole race’s financial spending. If only black people knew about the wasteful spending of white people they’d shut up. We’re talking about people who easily spend more than 15k monthly on eating out while the pantry is full of groceries. The only lesson that should be taken from whites is to spend your money on what you love spend your money on whatever makes you happy.
